Maidenhill Primary School

The new £13.5 million Maidenhill Primary and Nursery School was Blyth & Blyth’s third school delivered on behalf of East Renfrewshire Council.

This new two stream primary school providing 444 primary and 120 early years places sits at the heart of the new Maidenhill development in Newton Mearns.

The two storey steel framed triangular structure is designed with formal teaching spaces around a central atrium with a feature pitched clerestory window which fills the space with natural light.

Teaching spaces include interactive zones, flexible learning areas and a large auditorium complete with internal climbing wall.

The early years centre is designed as a circular form around a central treetop snug hung from the roof.

The early years centre also incorporprates a greeen roof.

Externally the school provides a multi-use games hall and 3G pitch whilst the main playground contains play tunnels, a bouldering wall and a tiered outdoor classroom.
