Chancellors Court, Pollock Halls

Several out-dated blocks were demolished to make-way for a new 520 bed complex.

Location:  Edinburgh
Client: University of Edinburgh
Cost: £21m
Completion: 2003

The facilities created provide state of the art accommodation and have been built to a specification to suit holiday letting during University vacation periods.

The Building frame was a reinforced concrete, flat slab construction chosen to minimise structural depths and overall building heights.

An added challenge for the project was the area’s close proximity to the Innocent Railway Tunnel, thought to be the first railway tunnel in Scotland and now incorporated into the city’s cycle pathways.
